  • Child may not have the vocabulary to express themself dearly, so may resort to aggressive action, or inappropriate langinge,
  • Child wich learning difficulties, or some forms of autism may struggle with communication about their feelings.
  • Child may be frustrated with rigid rules or routines where their opinion or needs / wishes are often overruled.
Tips on Dealing with this Child
  • Your reactions can depend on the stage of development they are in Terrible two or anisward adolescent…one needs to adjust one’s language to be age appropriate.
  • First, learn to master your owm emotions. Don’t get wiggered by your negative emotions when you need to get to the cause of the problem / behaviour.
  • Make your boundaries clear, as to what is acceptable behaviour, and what isn’t, regardless of the circumstance.
  • Don’t react and look for immediate punishment or power pushes; validate their feelings, but calmly refuse to accept their behaviour,
  • Model and teach them communication skills, by the wray you talk when you are angry. or have a difference of opinion.
  • Do “time in” not “time out”. Engage rather than isolate the child
