Then came COVID-19 – and after it, heartbreaking stories of abuse, trauma  and vulnerability. It became clear that protection and safeguarding must begin before harm is done. While we continue to support victims of GBV, DV and Child Abuse through the local CFM unit at our local hospital, our focus has shifted toward proactive  and preventive safeguarding rather than reactive assistance. We are now equipping communities with the tools and knowledge to prevent harm – ensuring that safety is not just a response, but a foundation for resilience and change.

Adjusting our sails while staying true to our vision, and with Miriam (former Board Chairperson) coming back after 7 years, to join us as the third Director – we expanded our work to include interactive training that empowers educators, school support staff, parents and community members. Through our “Duty to Care” series of workshops, we are helping teachers and student teachers to create environments where children and vulnerable individuals are protected – not just by policy, but by an organisational culture.

From humble beginnings to a growing force for change, our journey has been one of evolution – not just in what we do, but in how we think, connect, and inspire action. Today, we remain committed to empowering communities where safety is not a privilege, but a promise.
